Hiya! 

August is here. These dog days of summer can be humid and buggy, but I think veggies fresh from a farm stand and fireflies twinkling beside a campfire make it worthwhile. Plus, there’s so much good stuff going on at our local Co-Op! 

Operations

Thank you to everyone who applied for our recently open Floor Staff/Cashier position. It was great to meet so many community members, and it’s exciting to have new folks on the team! We appreciate your patience while our new teammates learn the rhythms of Co-Op life. 

We also have a new Produce Manager! Eli (they/them) has been a Co-Op employee since 2024, but they’re taking on a new role. If you have questions or requests, be sure to let them know! 

We’re currently in the process of getting cold brew on tap! I’d like to thank our friends at Chapter One for hooking us up with this new offering. Cold brew will be approx. $15/lb. 

Were you able to drop by one of the Juice Goose pop-ups this month? If not, don’t worry–you can now visit the Juice Goose anytime! That’s right, smoothies, milkshakes, and agua fresca will be available every day (except Wednesday). We’re really excited to nourish our community with delicious drinks! 

Sales 

The Coffee of the Month is the Guatemalan blend from Raquette River Roasters. It is, according to Co-Op staff, “funky, fresh, and cool”! It’s on sale for $16.99/lb. 

The Cheese of the Month is A2 Camembert from Origin Creamery. It’s formulated for deliciousness and digestibility! It’s on sale for $10.99 a wheel.  

Events 

School is starting soon–students, stop in for Student Saturday at the Co-Op! Students (of any school, regardless of age or location) get 5% off with a valid student ID. We do this every Saturday, year round. 

The next meeting of our Board of Directors is Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 in the Community Room. These meetings are open to Co-Op members. 

Catch up with us at the Farm Day at the Plattsburgh Farmers and Crafters Market on August 29th! We’ll be joining some of the many local farms and producers who sustain our community through good, local food.
