Happy New Year!
We hope that everybody out there is ringing in 2026 in a way that brings them joy. 2025 was a doozy, to say the least, but 2026 is full of potential. Here at the Co-Op we’re kicking off the new year with some changes, and with some exciting offerings for y’all.
Operations
We are going to be starting a book club this year as well! The book we’ve chosen to start with is The Secret Life of Groceries: The Dark Miracle of the American Supermarket by Benjamin Lorr. Information about the NCFC Book Club is available on our website.
Thanks to Valley Vending we have an ATM now! Most forms of payment are welcome at the Co-Op, but absorbing credit card processing fees costs the Co-Op approximately $30k annually–so cash is extra welcome! Our ATM can be found near the kombucha machine and the dairy-free refrigerated section.
Sales
We’ve got a lot of great products on sale this month; Annie’s mac and cheese is 2 for $5, rolled oats from Bob’s Red Mill are $6.99, and Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea is 2 for $7!
Coffee of the Month is Steady Hand Decaf from Copper Horse Coffee–for neurosurgeons, sharp shooters, magicians, tattoo artists and anybody else who can't afford a tremor or a shake. $16.99/lb this month.
Cheese of the Month is Pecorino Romano! Our prebagged pecorino romano is great in all sorts of pasta dishes. $7.99/lb this month.
Events
After the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we here at the Co-Op are going to be keeping it quiet this month. No events are planned for January.
January’s Board Meeting is Thursday 1/8/26 at 5:30 in the Community Room.
“...if you remember to look at the snow like a child, or a Texan–gazing up, trying to see where it originates–then the slowness into which it falls, the paralysis of its journey, will drop you immediately into a lower, slower state, one where you're sure to live twice as long, and see twice as many things, and be two times as happy at the end. Snow's more wonderful than rain, than anything.” –Rick Bass
