June Sales and Newsletter

Heyo, June bugs!

We hope you’re all enjoying the shift into summertime like we are. There’s a lot to be excited about: our favorite local farms bringing us their best seasonal treasures, we’re stocking up on all your summer needs, and we’ve got so much going on in the community. Check it out!

Operations

The bad news: our kombucha machine and one of our freezers have gone to the Co-Op in the sky. The good news: a new freezer and a new kombucha machine are on order! While our frozen department won’t be changing much, kombucha flavors will now be offered on a monthly rotating basis. We’ll be posting a poll to our facebook for you, the membership, to vote on what kinds of kombucha you want us to carry most–don’t forget to weigh in monthly!

As we’ve done in years past, the Co-Op will be hosting student workers from a couple local student-employment-experience initiatives, like SWEET. So if you see a new face, don’t hesitate to say hi and welcome!

Products

Tomato starts from the Quarry arrived at the Co-Op recently–Rebel Starfighter, Goldie, Big Rainbow, and many other exciting varieties are available for purchase now! We also have an excellent assortment of medicinal and culinary herbs, like tulsi, sage, and yarrow from BioBloom Farm. Expect to see some farm-fresh flowers from Ilyssa Rae before long, too!

Wild Muse from North Country Creamery is our Cheese of the Month for June. This havarti is aged 3-4 months, and washed in a cherry beer, giving it a rich but tangy flavor. Pair it with hot pepper jam to kick it up a notch.

Coffee of the Month is Ring of Fire from Dean’s Beans. Bold and full-bodied, this coffee has notes of dark chocolate.

In grocery news, some of Spectrum Natural’s cooking oils are on sale this month–perfect for grilling season, especially since we have charcoal in stock! We are also having a sale on graham crackers…did someone say s’mores? (We don’t have vegan marshmallows for no reason, after all!)

Events

Do you have a middle schooler in your life who’s looking to express themselves more creatively? HAPPY (Health through Arts Programming for Plattsburgh Youth) is hosting another art workshop out of our community room. The plein-air painting course will be taking place from June 9-13. For information and to register, email happycollectiveplatts@gmail.com

June is Pride Month! Come try our rainbow of fruity drink specials, which will be in the Grab n Go all month long. And while you’re here, admire (and maybe vote for) our design for the downtown window art contest! We’ll also be joining ANCGA at Tri-Lakes Pride in Saranac Lake on June 29th.
